Kosicky Vranov district

Kosice-Vranov district is one of eight districts located in the Košický kraj region of Slovakia. Located in the south-eastern corner of the country, the district is bordered by the districts of Trebišov to the west, Svidník to the north and Prešov to the east. It has an area of approximately 380 km2 and a population of nearly 37,000 people.

The district capital of Kosice-Vranov lies along the Christian part of the Hornád river in the central Valle de Hernád area. This historic town is well-known for its three UNESCO listed castles – Vranov, Lipovce and Buchlovice – and its nearby rock-hewn Sobeslavský caves. The town is also known for its well-preserved Gothic and Baroque urban fabric and its numerous Protestant churches. Alternatively, you can take a train from Kosice to Vranov nad Toplou district. However, this option is only available a few times a day and tickets can be bought at the train station.
